MINTNEIGHBOR WAR

Questions.

What is Neighbor War?

A pixel art collection on Base, and a game you play with it. Every neighbor is one NFT that holds two characters, a human and a monster, and either one can be sent into a fight.

What do I get when I mint?

One NFT holds a neighbor and its mutation. The neighbor is fixed at reveal and never changes. The token carries an interactive viewer, so pressing the mark on the artwork switches between them anywhere the token is opened.

When do I see my traits?

After the mint window closes. Traits are not stored on the token, they are derived from a single seed published at reveal, so nobody knows any neighbor's traits before that seed exists. Until then your NFT shows unrevealed artwork.

What does it cost?

First mint is free. After that the public window is 0.001 ETH per neighbor. Network gas is separate.

How many can I mint?

Five per wallet, counted across every window.

Which network?

Base.

Is the artwork really on chain?

Yes. The art is stored in the contract and rendered as SVG by the contract. There is no image server and no external file to go missing.

Does anything run off chain?

The NFT does not. Your neighbor, its art and its traits are all in the contract, and so is the money: stakes sit in escrow and the contract pays the winner.

Rounds are different. You sign each one with a session key your funding transaction authorised, and a referee passes the signed rounds between both players. That is why a whole match takes two or three wallet confirmations instead of one for every round, and why a round resolves in seconds rather than waiting on blocks. We did it that way because paying gas twelve times to finish one match is not a game anyone wants to play.

The contract checks every one of those signatures before it pays out. The referee cannot move your funds, and if it goes down your match keeps going straight through the contract instead. Chat, the lobby and finding an opponent are off chain too, for the same reason.

How does a fight work?

Both players secretly pick a number from 1 to 5 and a form, human or monster, then reveal together. An even total kills the monster. An odd total kills the human. If both players chose the same form the round is a draw and nobody loses a life.

How long is a match?

Three lives each. Lose all three and the match is over.

What does it cost to play?

Both players stake the same amount, at least 0.001 ETH, with no maximum. The winner takes the pot minus a 1.8% fee. Draws cost nothing.

What is Battle Royale?

A tournament on the hour. 32 neighbors enter, you get three lives against each opponent, and winning sends you to the next one. Entry starts at 0.001 ETH.

Can I try it before I own one?

Yes. Practice runs against the bot in your browser with no wallet, no stake and no transaction.
