TERMS OFSERVICE

Last updated 22 September 2026.

Using this site, minting a neighbor or entering a match means you accept what is written here. If you do not, do not use it.

What this is

Neighbor War is a collectible NFT on the Base network and a game you can play with it. The artwork and the rules live in smart contracts. This website is a way to read those contracts and send transactions to them; it does not hold your tokens and cannot move them.

Your wallet is yours

You are responsible for your wallet, its keys and its recovery phrase. We never have them and cannot restore them. Every transaction you send is signed by you, is final once mined, and cannot be reversed or refunded by us.

Network fees are paid to the network, not to us, and are separate from any price on this site.

Minting

A mint gives you one NFT holding a neighbor and its mutation. Both, and which of them the token displays by default, are assigned from a seed published after the mint window closes. The neighbor is permanent from then on. Nobody, including us, knows a neighbor’s traits before that seed exists.

The contract caps minting at five per wallet across every window. The first mint is free on the whitelist; the public price is shown on the mint page and read from the contract.

A place on the whitelist is not a guarantee of a mint. Windows are time-limited and supply is finite.

Playing

A match is between two players who stake the same amount of ETH, at least 0.001, with no maximum. Each player has three lives. The winner receives the pot minus a fixed fee of 1.8%, which the contract takes. A drawn round costs nothing.

Stakes are real funds held by the contract for the length of the match. Abandoning a match forfeits it rather than refunding it. Practice is free, runs in your browser, uses no wallet and pays nothing.

Live play can use a recovery service that holds your unrevealed choice, encrypted, until you reveal it. The operator holds the key. If that matters to you, keep your own backup and do not rely on the service.

The artwork is CC0

Every neighbor’s artwork is released under Creative Commons Zero. We waive our copyright in it worldwide, as far as the law allows. You can copy it, change it, print it, sell it, build something else on top of it, and use it commercially. No permission, no licence fee, no attribution required, though attribution is always welcome.

That applies to everyone, not only to holders. Owning a neighbor gives you the token: a transferable entry on the chain, the right to sell it, and the right to enter it into matches. It does not give you anything exclusive over the picture, because nobody has anything exclusive over the picture.

CC0 is irrevocable. We cannot take it back later, and neither can anyone who buys a token from you.

Two things it does not cover. The name Neighbor War and the skull mark are ours and we use them to say which project is the real one, so do not use them in a way that suggests we made or endorsed something we did not. And CC0 is a copyright waiver, not permission to break other laws with the art.

Not an investment

A neighbor is a collectible and a game piece. It is not a share, a security, a loan or a claim on anything. We make no promise about its price, its resale, its liquidity, or that any marketplace will list it. Buy one because you want it.

What we can and cannot change

The collection contract cannot be replaced. Once the artwork is sealed and the trait pools are frozen, they are fixed. That is deliberate, and it means a mistake in them is permanent too.

This website can change or go offline at any time. If it does, the contracts remain on the chain and your tokens remain yours, readable and transferable by any other tool that speaks to them.

Fair use of the site

Do not attack the site or its services, do not script abusive traffic against them, and do not try to manipulate a match or the whitelist. We may decline service to an address that does.

Risk of loss

You can lose everything you put in. That is the plain summary, and the rest of this section is what it means specifically.

Lose your keys or your recovery phrase and your tokens and funds are gone. There is no reset, no support desk and no way for us to restore access. We never hold your assets.

A transaction that fails still costs gas. A transaction that succeeds cannot be undone, reversed, charged back or refunded, including one sent to the wrong address or signed by mistake.

ETH is volatile. A stake, a price or a prize is worth whatever ETH is worth at the time, which may be much less than when you committed it.

Smart contract and network risk

The contracts are not upgradeable. That protects you from the rules being rewritten under you, and it also means a bug cannot be patched. Audits and tests reduce risk; they do not remove it.

Base is a layer-2 network. Sequencer downtime, delayed or reorganised blocks, congestion and gas spikes can stop you acting in time, and the contracts do not make exceptions for it. A deadline you miss because the network stalled is still a deadline you missed.

Transactions are public before they are mined. Someone can see a mint and try to get theirs in first. The game is commit and reveal specifically so that your number and form are not visible before you reveal, but your transactions themselves are never private.

Ways a match can be lost without being outplayed

These are in the rules and they are enforced by the contract, not by us:

Missing a commit or a reveal costs a life. Withholding a losing reveal forfeits the entire match. If one player acts in time and the other does not, the timely player takes the pot minus the fee, whatever the remaining lives are.

Transferring or selling your neighbor during a live match forfeits that match. An ownership counter catches a transfer out and back. If both participants change hands the match is drawn, and an ownership change before play begins refunds the unstarted match.

Deadlines do not execute themselves. Somebody has to send the timeout or settlement transaction, and until they do, nothing happens on its own.

Unaccepted offers expire on their own fifteen-minute deadline. A preparation timeout refunds both stakes.

Emergency administration

The battle contract has a disclosed emergency power. An administrator can settle a stuck match, redirect a claim or pay one out, in each case with a recorded reason. It exists so funds are not trapped forever by a bug or an edge case, and it is a power you are trusting a human with.

It cannot upgrade the contracts, change the rules of a round, mint tokens or take your NFTs. If you are not comfortable with it existing, do not stake funds here.

Marketplaces, royalties and impostors

Secondary sales happen on marketplaces we do not run. Whether a royalty is honoured is up to each marketplace, and many do not enforce them. Prices, listings and availability there are nothing to do with us.

Check the contract address before you buy or sign anything. Fake sites, fake tokens and lookalike collections are routine. The address shown in the footer of this site is the one we publish.

Taxes and your own jurisdiction

Any tax arising from minting, selling, winning or losing is yours to work out and pay. We do not give tax, legal or financial advice. Rules covering digital assets and games played for stakes differ by country and are still changing; whether you may use this is your responsibility to establish.

No warranty, and limits

Everything here is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Smart contracts can contain bugs. Networks congest, stall and reorganise. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost funds, lost tokens, lost profits or any indirect damage arising from use of this site or the contracts.

Nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be removed by agreement.

Eligibility

You must be 18 or older and legally allowed to use this kind of service where you live. Some places restrict games played for stakes; if yours does, that restriction applies to you and not to us.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version.
